Holy Hotdogs!
Wow where to begin!?
I have not posted in ages and for that I am very sorry. A lot has been happening in my life. I got a second job, my apartment was burglarized, and I think I have a legitimate crush on a legitimate person! Wow have I been busy or what? Keep reading if anything I said in the above sentences is of interest to you.
Wherever to begin?
Well, I got a second job at a dog training, boarding, grooming, and daycare facility. It is a LOT of hard work, wrangling rowdy pooches, cleaning cages, scooping shit, and mopping. So much mopping. But it is pretty great if I am having a rough day to go into the playroom and have all the dogs excited to see me. I’ve only been there for a little over 2 months, but I have already gotten very attached to some of the dogs there. People are incredibly attached to their pets (I mean hello, I made my cat a twitter), and often believe that their pet does nothing wrong and is perfect. It’s strange because if a dog plays rough with the other dogs at work, then they probably do that when the owner brings them to the dog park or to PetSmart or whatever and yet some owners still don’t see anything wrong with their dog’s behavior. I think this somehow is reflective of the innate ability for people to overlook and ignore things that are wrong in our own lives, specifically when it comes to our relationships (whether they be feline, canine, or human :) ). I was in a relationship that was extremely toxic and it took me a long time to come to terms with it, realize it, and acknowledge that this man’s behavior was unacceptable for me. For the longest time I felt that his actions were just the something that many people in relationships deal with, you need to meet people halfway etc. but in reality I was meeting him more than halfway and he was half assing it. The lesson in all this? Train your dog, make your expectations of your dog’s behavior clear at all times, and remember that if your dog only sits for treats, then it only knows tricks :)
On a less introspective/reflective note, my apartment got broken into about a month ago. Here are the details:
I was not home, Carlos however was, and I think the burglars terrorized him because he was pretty traumatized and still is not 100% back to his old self. They stole my laptop (6 yrs old and broken, good find thieves!), a 6 yr old PC monitor (also broken, wow these people definitely got a deal here) and they put it all in my FAVORITE Theta Phi Alpha tote bag. Needless to say I was bummed. That laptop had 6 years of writing on there (including a 20 page semi auto biographical paper I wrote my sophomore year of college) as well as my official writing portfolio that I submit with my resume. Amazing! There was also a pretty respectable iTunes library on there and a few nudes I’ve received. All in all the crooks probably made about $150 off of my outdated and broken computer things. Really awesome.
Wasn’t there something else? Oh yes, a legitimate crush on a legitimate and awesome guy. Yup, I have one. And that’s all I’m sharing on that subject :)
